Our First Genetic Line

 Fallow deer (Dama dama) are native to the Mediterranean region of Europe, Asia Minor, Palestine, Iran, and northern Africa. They were introduced to the Mediterranean around 9,000 years ago, and to England by the Normans around 1100 AD. From there, they spread throughout Britain and Ireland, and are now the most common deer in England, as well as widespread in Scotland and Wales. Fallow deer have also been introduced to other regions around the world, and are now the most widely kept deer species.
